Project Description
|
|
In conjunction
with Foster Wheeler, Water & Earth Technologies, Inc. (WET) developed and
mapped GIS data to be used in the landscape assessment for the upper South
Platte River basin (including the Buffalo Creek burned area) southwest of
Denver, Colorado. During the $150,000 effort, GIS ARC/INFO and ArcView were
used to create a watershed multi-resource database (soils, roads, drainages,
vegetation, erosion potential, water quality, wildlife, rural development,
fire danger, etc.). GIS technology was also used to create high quality maps
and graphics for data presentation, and to assess the watershed using a
resource-integrated ranking system. A landscape plan was recommended
outlining future actions to be taken to protect and enhance the watershed in
parallel with future development. The results also supported an EIS effort
analyzing available options for the restoration of the basin |
